Net Caboose's Technology

Net Caboose's applications work in a very simple way. The user inserts the Tutis USB key or credit card sized CD into a computer and the application opens, a one-time password is automatically sent to the user's mobile phone which is then entered into the computer and the user is logged on. Once the user no longer wishes to be on the site, they can simply remove the USB key or credit card sized CD and the session will end.

For the end user the process is simple - behind the scenes however is where the complex technology takes place. The steps that are carried out in the background are described below.

How the technology works

1. The user inserts the Tutis USB key into their PC.
2. An application on the key decrypts the user-specific data and sends the ID over a secure link to the authentication server.
3. The authentication server verifies that the ID is valid and identifies the user's mobile phone number. It then generates a password and sends that password to the Tutis text server over a secure link.
4. The text server then sends the message to the user's mobile phone.
5. The user enters the password and the authentication server validates that it is the same as the one generated.
6. The authentication server then logs the user onto the required secure site.
7. Depending on the settings, the server will either delete the password or will let the password remain valid for a specified amount of time.
